eye tutorial?? kinda?? by naseu eye tutorial?? kinda?? by naseu
a couple people on tumblr asked me how I colour eyes so here's a tutorial/process thing...
if you need help with picking colours, sorry but I can't help you there cause I just pick random colours that look nice;;

here's the 100% view of the finished eye: [link]

please don't repost this anywhere!!
if you want to post it on tumblr, please reblog [link] instead! thanks~

I've been practicing drawing eyes with the help of this tut--
but how does one change the colour of the lineart with Sai?

If you click preserve opacity in the layers option, you'll be able to shade whatever you've drawn in that layer. If you draw lineart and then click 'preserve opacity' and then use another colour to shade you'll see that the shade will not go outside of your lineart, that's how you colour lineart. I'm sorry if this wasn't helpful, if it wasn't I'll try and find a video for you~

i tried to follow urs using clip studio art...and..failed a lot T^TT when i used SAI...it do not give that oil paint effect like in clip art....what brush u used??

it might work better if you used a softer more blendy brush... idk if you like a oil paint effect or not but personally I don't think that would work very well with this style?

and my brush settings are listed under the faq on my front page.

I saw the picture and if you just used my tutorial as reference to draw the eyes I don't mind, but if you like... photomanipulated?? the eyes I drew in the tutorial?? I'd rather you took it down, thanks.

I used opencanvas for the first two steps and SAI for the rest. But you could easily use SAI for the entire thing.

this should be just a "how i draw eyes" post, not tutorial material.. it's not even helping much.
people go here and say "oh my god sparkly" instead of "hey, thanks for the informative guide, that really helped a lot i'll be using your guide on my next work"

i do love the art style don't get me wrong, and it's fascinating to see how you work, but it took me a little more effort to decipher each steps so i wouldn't say i didn't learn anything from browsing, but it still lacking from an art enthusiast's perspective would actually go and check out some real tutorials. i hope you improve how you explain things next time..

yes you might say 'because it's nice, because it works" but you should ask yourself, "why is it nice from your point of view? why does it work? why would you recommend this and that?" instead of "just pick random colours, experiment, and let's all hope you get this"

i'm both fascinated and disappointed right now. sorry for the rant. >.<

I didn't know how to name it so I just called it a tutorial. And I did say in the comments it was a tutorial/process thing since again, I didn't know what to call it. If you rather I call it "how I draw eyes" I can change the name ._.

I didn't intend to make this to teach ppl how to draw eyes tbh, people just asked to see my process on how I colour, which is what I showed here; I did tell people that my process is rly... random but ppl kept asking for a process so I obliged.

If you need help with picking colours and things, sorry I'm not the one to ask since after drawing for long enough I find that you just... know what colours work.

Sorry this wasn't helpful for you.

hey itsokay i wasn't trying to put you down or something.
i was just hoping that you are able to develop a better way of communicating how you do stuffs especially for your watchers, i mean yes your works are nice but when you make a 'tutorial' some people like me would expect to learn from this, but the way you did this just lacks that communication to send a clearer message on how you do things.

true, im disappointed but at the same time, im hopeful that you can develop that lack of teaching aspect in a tutorial.

and no, this IS still helpful, i already stated before, i had a hard time deciphering your message. so technically i was still able to get something from this, just in an unconventional way.

keep up the good work, i hope the next time you do like this, you can better communicate with us. because really people like to learn from you. sorry if i sounded too cruel in my previous post :glomp:

no, it's fine, I knew I was really bad at explaining since I don't really have a proper... process?? per say since I just... disregard lighting half the time and do what looks nice to me lol.

I don't think I'll make any more colouring ones tbh lol I'll prob just post videos or gifs if people want more process things since I realllly don't know how to explain how I do art.

and no, I appreciate the feedback, sorry if I sounded snappy lol I just got back home and I'm super tired oTL
